Purple Lipstick Is In!!! Summer 2012 HOT TREND!!

It’s my job to find out what is hot and current for all you makeup and beauty lovers out there…

One thing that I’ve noticed taking quite a bit of spotlight lately is the purple lip!! Now, I am usually the last person to wear this color on a day to day basis or reach for it to put on one of my makeup clients but I have to say, I am beginning to be enticed!!! Obviously it is not a color for the meek and mild…its certainly for the bold and courageous but man oh man, can it look hot!!!

Fancy Face Make-up Artistry & Co’s 1st Booth at a Bridal Show!

After being in business for 6 years with the majority of our marketing being word of mouth, I thought I would step it up a notch and enter into a bridal show with a Fancy Face booth!! I chose the Deer Creek Bridal Show as I grew up in Durham and thought it would be a great place to start. After endless preparation and tireless work, we officially were ready to set up our booth!

Now, I had never done this before so I was extremely nervous that I would forget something along the way that would throw the whole thing off. Once we got to the venue and finished setting up, I really started to love the look of the booth and once the soon-to-be brides started coming into the show, I began to notice that they really liked it as well!

The entire day went on without a hitch and we were fortunate enough to have 94 brides sign up to learn more about Fancy Face and to possibly book with us for their upcoming wedding!

I really believe that when you feel your best and on top of the world, you have found your sweet spot. To be honest, I love nothing more than working in this bridal industry and couldn’t feel more blessed and grateful to have so many women trust in Fancy Face to be a part of their special day!

Thank you to all of you that came out to see us and most importantly I would like to thank Denise, Tahlia, Shannon, Danielle (Deer Creek), Kim (The Designer) & my amazing partner Mark for all of your incredible help! I am honoured to work alongside you all.

ROGERS DAYTIME DURHAM APPEARANCE

Yesterday, myself, Melissa (Fancy Face Hairstylist) and Katie (our lovely model) went to the Rogers Durham Station to film a segment on Daytime Durham discussing all that Fancy Face Makeup Artistry & Co. has to offer. We also chatted about the Deer Creek Bridal Show that we will have a booth at on March. 4th and also demonstrated a 2012 bridal look! We had an amazing time with Julia Piedimonte as our host. Madonna’s Hair/Makeup Look At The Superbowl

Although her performance garnered mixed reviews, I have to say that I did love her hair and makeup look. I thought that, as always, her eyes just popped with the thick black liner and lashes and the hair was a beautiful color and styled in a very current and up-to-date way. Madonna certainly uses tricks of the trade to continue looking youthful and glamourous. We can learn from her by assessing just what she does. First of all, she keeps her self in amazing shape. This will ALWAYS take years off and keep your skin radiant and glowing. She also usually uses a pretty neutral makeup palette. She stays away from anything that will accentuate wrinkles, like too much glitter or extremely bright colors and always has a very warm shade of blonde in her hair which, in my opinion does wonders for her skin-tone. I also love how Madonna plays up her eyes. To me, her eyes are the one thing that really makes her captivating. She has created a wonderfully strong brow shape for her face and she always wears thick liner and big false lashes. In my opinion, she is doing all of the right things. For todays blog, I thought I would share with you two makeup ideas that would look great for a date night, girls night out or special event during this romantic season. The first look is for those who love to look like a bronzed goddess. This soft earth tones on the eyes and the nude lip is bound to get you some serious male attention. As for the 2nd look, the red lip intertwines classic glamour with sheer romance. A very confident and seductive look.

I can’t tell you how much I adore this look. I find braids so romantic in the hair and I think this is a terrific bridal hair choice to incorporate on your big day. To me, the looser and messier the better. Gone are the days of not a hair out of place. Lashes: the thicker…the better. Lashes standout in photos and really make your eyes pop. As for eyeliner, I love it black, with zero shadow and just a thick strip of lashes. Classy, simple, retro and unique!
