Food for Better Hair & Skin

We all strive for clear radiant skin and healthy shiny hair. Beauty products can help but ultimately, the biggest factor in perfect skin and hair is your diet and lifestyle habits. For radiant skin, your body needs lots of antioxidants, hydration, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids. For shinier hair, lots of vitamins A & C as well as protein should do the trick. Get your beauty rest every night and include the following foods in your diet and you should see an improvement in no time!

Blueberries: Chock full of antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients to protect you from premature aging, acne, broken capillaries and splotchy skin. Many experts consider blueberries to be the highest food source of antioxidants. Antioxidants target free radicals to reduce cell damage. The skin cells are protected from disintegration and will look younger for longer.

Salmon: Rich in protein and vitamin D to help your hair grow stronger and shinier. Salmon is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids which can help your skin stay supple and moisturized.

Oysters: Rich in zinc, which aids in skin renewal and repair. A lack of zinc may lead to hair loss and a dry, flaky scalp. Oysters are also believed by some to be an aphrodisiac!

Kiwis: Bursting with vitamin C and antioxidants to keep skin firm, helping to prevent wrinkles and fine lines. This fruit is also great for healthy bones and teeth.

Water: Experts recommend at least 8 cups of water per day. Keep your body hydrated and your skin will look brighter and more beautiful. Water is also essential for the healthy function of all your body’s cells.

Green Tea: There are numerous benefits to green tea. It’s full of antioxidants, can help in preventing skin cancer, will rejuvenate skin cells, fight inflammation, fight signs of aging, neutralize the effects of UV, fight acne, boost metabolism which in turn helps to for weight loss.
