What Britt’s Loving Lately – Fall 2022

Britt FeatureProducts & Tips

Hey, beauties! Summer is over, and with both my kids in school, I’m getting back into the work groove and focusing my attention on fall fashion and, of course, beauty trends. After the busyness of summer, this time of year also feels like the perfect time to refocus on health and routines that support my well-being.

Here are a few things I’ve been absolutely loving lately:

Fashion

I’ve been wearing Aritzia’s ribbed tanks in black and white on repeat, often under some linen button-downs from Zara in white and oatmeal. Both are perfect wardrobe staples and ideal for that transition between summer and fall when layering is key.

The Dad Jean is a popular trend this fall, and I’m loving my pair from Abercrombie & Fitch. High-rise with a relaxed leg, available in several washes, and featuring the on-trend criss-cross waistband, these jeans are comfy and perfect when paired with another “Dad” fashion trend: New Balance’s Dad Shoes

Other footwear I’m loving this fall are some super trendy and super cozy ankle-length Uggs, which I bought in olive, as well as a slip-on pair with a thicker wedge sole. So easy to slip into when rushing to do a school drop-off, but they also look really cute at work.

I never thought I’d be a backpack person, but this faux-leather black backpack from Zara has won me over. I take it everywhere, and it’s so easy to throw all my beauty and mom essentials into it, and then throw it on my back and have my hands free when on the go. A total #momhack, trust me.

Beauty

Even though it’s autumn, I’m not ready to give up my summery, sun-kissed glow. I used to use tanning serums but hated the smell of them. Enter NUDA: an amazing line of self-tanning products. I mist my face with their Tanning Water three times a week and love how it gives my skin a radiant, tanned glow without any skin damage.

I’ve been rocking my Nude Lip Liner, which I usually wear with Ivy Girl and After Hours Plumping Lip Gloss. But I’ll also let you in on a secret, beauties: we have some new lipsticks launching soon! I’ve been wearing those a ton and can’t wait for you to try them, too.

Speaking of lip care, an absolute must for me going into fall and winter is consistently using our Supermodel Lip Bath in Strawberry Strut and Honey Shot. If I don’t put it on every night before bed, my lips feel really dry and nobody wants a chapped lip look. The mix of ultra-rich ingredients like Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Castor Oil means my lips are always soft, deeply hydrated and perfectly smooth for applying my fave Fancy Fancy lipsticks and glosses.

I’ve embraced the TikTok trend of going back to a shade closer to my natural hair colour. I’m feeling much more comfortable being a brunette than I did before, and I especially love that I’m doing way less damage to my hair. I recently went to Revival Scalp Studio in Vaughan, and I loved the difference their Organic Scalp Facial Treatment made to the way my hair looks and feels.

Because of my darker locks, I’ve recently added a taupe Brow Pencil to my make-up routine which gives a nice shape to my brows and works well with my new/old hair colour.

Health and Well-Being

While I’m definitely not trying to look exactly like I did before the birth of my children, I found my lower stomach was often bloated. I’ve recently discovered Athletic Greens, a women-owned brand. Taking it once a day with water, I’ve noticed that my stomach is flatter, and I feel much more comfortable.

My Stanley Quencher Water Cup is a total game changer that makes it easy to meet my daily hydration goals. Holding 40 ounces and with a built-in straw, it’s a sturdy cup I like to take everywhere.

Part of my well-being routine is reading, especially when I can combine my love of reading with my intense passion for home decor. I love decorating my home, changing it up with smaller pieces to make it feel new again, and fall is the perfect time to find ways to bring more beauty and coziness into your space. I’ve been loving Lauren Liess’ design books. Down to Earth and Feels Like Home are my two faves of hers. I rented a cottage this summer and had the pleasure of reading both books surrounded by nature, which was the perfect setting to experience them.

One thing I haven’t quite worked into my routine yet is a whole lot more exercise, but I’m committed to making it happen this fall (hold me to it, beauties!). I definitely want to walk more and get in those 10,000 steps daily. There’s an amazing yoga teacher in my area who teaches in the park, so before it gets too cold and those first flakes of snow fall, I’m going to enroll in a few outdoor yoga classes. I also want to check out some Barre classes—I’ve heard great things about The Toronto Barre Collective.
