Fancy Face Beauty Secrets for Women 50 Plus

Products & Tips

Brittany has a laugh with her mom as she shares her Fancy Face beauty secrets for women who are 50 plus.

Today was a very special day on our Rose Room ‘studio’, as I had a very special guest with me – my mom! We’re constantly surprised and grateful over at Fancy Face to see the number of women 50 plus who are following us on Instagram. We love the support and connection, so we wanted to do a video especially for you! Together, my mom and I will show you the Fancy Face beauty secrets that I use for women who are 50 plus.

STEP 1: EYE PREP

Grab our lovely Stardust Gel Eye Masks, put them in your fridge and in the morning put them on while you’re hanging out with your coffee. These will help you take down any swelling or puffiness you may have. Place them as close to the bottom lash line as you can and leave them on for 20-30 minutes until they dry and shrink down to a really thin sticker. Peel them off and get ready for the next steps!

STEP 2: SKIN PREP

When you hit 35 plus, your skin starts to lose hydration. It stinks, but it’s the truth. And if you aren’t the kind of person who drinks tons of water and are more of a coffee lover (like my mom….) then you’re going to need a product cheat, big time! My current go-to is Sunday Riley’s C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C Oil. I put it on after I’ve cleansed and toned my face. When you’re applying foundation or product like this to your face, always massage it into the face in upward motions if you can. And don’t forget about your neck! A woman’s neck is a tell-tale sign of aging, so treat yours as well as you treat your face.

Fun fact, my mom is all about aging gracefully, she’s a no botox no filler kind of gal. She started me on a skincare regime when I was about 10 years old. For real! No wonder I am where I am today. I love you, mom!

Ok from here, reach for the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Cream. These two products really are amazing. They give off so much radiance! Skin prep is key.

STEP 3: FOUNDATION

My mom isn’t a fan of foundation at all, she finds it settles into her fine lines and looks unattractive. So for my mom, I use the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter Foundation. It’s less of a foundation and more of a primer-foundation hybrid. It’s like a lightweight, luminous cream on the face. You can use something like a Sephora Synthetic Brush, but don’t be afraid to just use your fingers. They can heat up nicely for smooth application in a way a brush can’t. Feel free to cover up any age spots you may have.

STEP 4: CONCEALER

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is an excellent go-to if you want something light and not cakey or horribly obvious. Like my mom. The secret is super thin application! You can add as needed and you can also use your concealer as an eye primer on your lids for a fresh, simple, gorgeous look.

STEP 5: BRONZER

The next step is creating some warmth on your skin, but doing it without powders or products that are going to age you.Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream is a gorgeous cream bronzer that looks amazing on the skin and is very hydrating. Focus a little bit higher up than the hollows of your cheek bone when applying; a slim face can age you when you’re 50 plus. If you focus more on bronzing than contouring and apply correctly it will puff up your face a little bit in the best way! You want to create that sunkissed glow rather than a lot of sharp structure to your face. If your skin is deeper in tone, I’d suggest the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation in Y505

STEP 6: BLUSH

Products that I swear by and that you’ve seen me talk about time and time again are cream blushes, often by Stila. Stila’s Convertible Colour in Petunia is fantastic, especially for the 50 plus age range. It will give you a gorgeous, natural looking flush to your cheek. Don’t dip right in and apply, always disperse a little on the back of your hand, then pat and blend out the colour there before applying to your face for the best application. Don’t be afraid to apply a little to the temple and nose to gently warm up the face and tie everything together.

STEP 7: EYEBROWS

My mom doesn’t have a lot of brow hair. She wants fuller, thicker brows, but she doesn’t want to spend a lot of time making that happen. When I launched the Fancy Face Browmance Brow Gel, my mom got right into it – she uses it every day! A lot of people ask if, because it’s a brow gel, you can use it on its own and if it will work if you don’t have a lot of hair. The answer is yes! The gel and the fibers in the product create a fuller, thicker looking brow. It’s a total win! Just ask my mom.

STEP 8: EYESHADOW

The palette I’m using for my mom is the Biba Eyeshadow palette by Natasha Denona. It’s full of these gorgeous, rich, expensive and luxe looking tones Prairie is a gorgeous, warm fall tone you can easily apply, just rock it in the crease of your eye and gently blend. It has a bit of a bronzer look to it but with lovely, orange kind of undertones. If you’re 50 plus I’d suggest staying away from shimmery products (for the most part) on your eyes, especially in the crease. If you really want to rock a pop of shimmer, place it on the centre of your lid.

STEP 9: MASCARA

Since my mom isn’t a liner person, we’re going to jump right into mascara which is actually a bit more of a youthful look. I love the Stila Magnum XXX Mascara, but before we apply that I’m going to put a little bit of Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘N’ Kohl Nude Liquid Eye Pencil in the water line of the eye to help take away any redness and brighten the eye a little bit. When applying your mascara apply at least two coats while looking down into a mirror or compact. This keeps you from getting any mascara on and around your eye. If you do get a little under the eye just grab a Q-tip and sweep it away. The other option is to let it dry and then dust it away with some translucent powder.

STEP 10: LIPS

One thing my mom hates when it comes to makeup is when her lipstick bleeds. So Fancy Face created a waterproof lip liner that doesn’t bleed! Our Satin Lip Liner is a nude shade and it’s really the only lip liner you’ll ever need! Seriously. Ditch your other pigmented liners. If you have a red liner for red lipstick, toss it, pink liner for pink lips, throw it out. This is all you need. It makes your lips look fuller and bigger. When you apply, go outside of your actual lip line a little bit, don’t go crazy but play with creating those fuller lips. For a lipstick, I love the Fancy Face Vinyl Lip Lacquer in Love Note. To me, it’s the perfect pink shade to wake up your face. If you’re a woman who generally wears deeper, darker reds and colours I’d encourage you to go for a lighter colour like Love Note, it creates a much more youthful look. The lacquer is highly pigmented, hydrating, stays on and won’t give you that aging, matte look.

FINAL TOUCH UPS

For a bit of a final touch I’m going to add a little more blush, NudeStix Nudies Matte Blush and Bronze in Sunkissed is a lovely one to put on for a bit more of a pop on the apples of the cheek. From there I’m going to use just a little bit of the Glow Glaze Stick by Becca. It’s a highlighter, but it actually just creates this lovely, dewy look on your skin, just pat it on the top of your cheekbones. You don’t want to use a heavy, powdered shimmer on your face, especially if you have a lot of fine lines and wrinkles, you just want something to give you that dewy freshness!

If you need to set anywhere on the face, get yourself a translucent setting powder, I love Mineral Veil by Hourglass. All you need to do is spot treat where you feel shiny. Just dab on as needed, I like to dab a little over the concealer so it doesn’t move.

Last but not least, let’s help a girl out a little bit and fill in the hairline, cover some greys, whatever the case may or may not be. Color Wow Root Touch Up almost looks like an eye shadow and it does a killer job of covering those greys.

And those are my Fancy Face beauty secrets that I use for wonderful women who are 50 plus. Let me know what you think, we’re always here to answer any DMs and love to hear from you. Thanks to all and thanks, Mom!

Til next time…x
