Buy or Bye? Skincare Edition

Britt FeatureProducts & Tips

Hey, beauties! I am very excited to announce to you our new blog series …

Buy or Bye? (YAY!)

Brittany and I have made it our jobs to test all things beauty and lifestyle and to let you know if they’re worth the hype and the money. The two of us pride ourselves in only recommending products that we absolutely love. We have gained such a trustworthy relationship with our beautiful followers, so we thought this would be the perfect way to share with you our thoughts on today’s hot products.

Please feel free to comment down below to let us know if you have any products you’ve been wondering about and would love for us to try.

Now, without further ado, here’s our first round of Buy or Bye? Skincare Edition.

Buy: Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm $28

Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm

This product was a major win for us. As two gals that wear makeup pretttyyyyy much every day, nothing makes us happier than a product that will ensure all of our makeup is melted off while also cleansing the skin. First and foremost, we love that the product comes in a squeeze bottle. If you don’t get enough product on your first application we like that you don’t have to dip back into a jar with wet makeup(y) hands, ensuring your product stays sanitary. It truly melts away your makeup with ease…and yes…even those pesky mascaras. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry, either, which is a huge win in our department! It goes without mention that the price is right! Considering cleansers are a product that you typically have to replenish every 2-3 months, it’s nice to find something that works that also doesn’t break the bank. All of this means this product gets the stamp of approval!

We rate this a 9/10

Bye: Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm $80

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

This is a sad miss for us. Although the product smells like a fresh English Rose garden, unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to hook us. We both found the product never fully broke down long wear mascaras, which in and of itself is a loss for us. At a higher price point, we just felt as though it should be doing that and then some.

(Note: Long-wear mascaras that were tested – L’oreal Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara and Maybelline Sky-High Mascara)

We rate this a 7/10

Buy: Makeup Eraser Cloths $8-$15

These can be found online at Amazon or in-store at Winners.

Makeup Eraser Clothes

Win win win win win. These cloths almost seem too good to be true. They are so soft and gentle on your skin, chemical-free, and washable! I mean, does it really get better than that? I’m not sure what sorcery is in these cloths but they truly take off your makeup and all you have to do is add water. You can use them in the shower, daily like you would a makeup wipe, or paired with your favourite cleanser to ensure the ultimate face wash session. You can typically find a 3 pack at winners for 8-15 bucks!

We rate this a 10/10

Bye: Quo Beauty Cleansing Sponge $9

This is a big no. To remain fully transparent, there was nothing about this that we liked. It’s super rough on the skin and soaks up all of your product. I thought this would be a great tool to add into my skincare routine with the hope it would give that little extra bit of exfoliation, and a slightly deeper cleanse, but it honestly just hurt! I still love the idea but unfortunately, the execution just wasn’t there for us!

We rate this a 1/10 – 1 Point for being pink 😉

Buy: Supergoop! Glowscreen $48

Supergoop! Glowscreen

Without a doubt, this is the best sunscreen Britt and I have ever tried. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and leaves you with the most gorgeous glow thanks to its pearlescent finish. It wears beautifully under makeup, and also leaves the skin with a very subtle tint if you decide to go makeup-free for the day. Wearing sunscreen has truly never been easier.

We rate this a 10/10…run, don’t walk 😉

Bye: Alumier Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 40 (price not listed on website)

Alumier Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 40

We have to mention that we recognize this sunscreen is loved and adored by so many, but for us, it was just a bit of a miss. We both found it a tad too heavy on the skin. Britt tried the sheer one and just found she didn’t reach for it as much as she reached for Supergoop. I found the tinted one to have a bit of a white/purple cast to it, leaving me feeling paler than my normal skin tone. We both found it to be a bit too heavy under makeup, as well. I do have to mention, however, it didn’t break me out which is a massive win for me, as I’m very sensitive to sunscreens.

We rate this a 5/10

Thank you so much for reading our first Buy or Bye? Blog! As mentioned above, feel free to recommend products you’re curious about – anything makeup, skincare, haircare and lifestyle!
