Fancy Face had the rare opportunity of providing the hair and makeup for the Desert Rose photoshoot that showcased amazing Fancy Face artistry alongside brilliant and renown Toronto vendors.
When Jarar Kazmi approached Fancy Face and asked us to take part in the Toronto based Desert Rose photoshoot, we gave a resounding, yes! It is a rare opportunity to be part of a shoot that consists of such incredible, inspiring Toronto and international vendors that is curated and designed solely for the purpose of showcasing our talent and artistry across social media platforms. More often than not, these photoshoots are submitted to magazines and we have to wait months to show-off new trends in the bridal world to our brides. Magazine editors have to approve the shoot and months pass before the actual publication hits the stands.
Concept and Art Direction for the Desert Rose photoshoot was led by Jarar Kazmi and his wife Zehra, of Fine Cakes by Zehra, designed the wedding cake. She truly is one of the very best in the city! We shot at GPS Decors with the amazing L’atelier Lumiere photographers, whom we’ve worked with a few times in the past, so it was nice to work side-by-side again. The gorgeous dress was by Ferre Sposa, and our wonderful Fancy Face artist Kristina, styled the model’s hair and I did the makeup. We worked with a beautiful model and showcased some fantastic before and after shots on our Fancy Face Instagram last week, and now all of the final images are ready and we are so excited to share this feature with you!
The initial concept was of the bride completing her own wedding decor and setup: putting down chargers, setting plates and the like, while in the middle of her hair and makeup process and still needing to complete her look for her big day. The next set of shots are of the stunning bride looking polished and breathtaking next to her beautiful decor and lovely wedding design. We wanted our bride to have that ultimate wedding look, majoritively, we are asked for Old Hollywood waves, a bronzed eye and a soft, pinky-peach lip. We worked with that beautiful, classic design and brought out a gorgeous glow on our bride’s skin. We used our new Fancy Face lashes in Brilliant (available for purchase soon!), the Anastasia Soft Glam Palette for her shadow and the DipBrow Pomade by Anastasia for her brows. I mixed together Becca 24 Hour Foundation and Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and Too Faced Born This Way Concealer for her under-eye. We also worked with one of my consistent go-to’s to set her makeup, the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder as well as my other staple, the Japonesque Velvet Touch Finishing Powder which is a brilliant pressed translucent setting powder. For lips we applied NYX Lip Lingerie (which was featured in our previous blog here) in Silk Indulgent with ColourPop gloss on top, and completed the beautiful, glowing-bride look with Marc Jacob Dew Drops on her collarbone and the top of her cheekbones to highlight. The complete look was truly stunning and I must admit, one of my favourite looks to date. What a fantastic day!
