New Mom Sahar Shares How She Juggles Work and Motherhood

Products & Tips

Hello, beauties!

For those of you who don’t know me yet, allow me to introduce myself! My name is Sahar – I’m a makeup artist on the Fancy Face team and work alongside Brittany, Hannah and Carina at the Rosé Room. When I’m not creating gorgeous looks and helping my clients feel their best, I’m a busy Mama to one 8-month-old boy. And boy oh boy, how fast these months have gone by! It seems like every day my little one is hitting a new milestone like sitting, crawling and eating solids. He’s even saying Mama and Baba – those are the moments where waterproof makeup is definitely needed.

It feels like yesterday that I was still pregnant with Noah, working right up until the day before he arrived. That’s probably because he came 2 weeks before my due date, but my motherly instincts kicked in and I just knew it would be that weekend. I left the Rosé Room and only two days later, surprised the ladies with a photo of baby Noah, who instantly became his “Fancy Aunties”. I feel so grateful to have had such beautiful, supportive and hard-working ladies in my corner throughout my pregnancy. Even through those difficult moments of nausea and fatigue, they kept me happy and sane at all times! It’s true what they say that it takes a village, and that time really does fly by! Before I knew it, I was holding my little love in my arms!

Today I’m sharing a glimpse into how life’s been looking for me these last 8 months, and how I’ve been balancing it all. I’m a busy bee at heart, but raising a tiny human is like having two full-time jobs – you’re working around the clock!  I went back to work 3 weeks postpartum and to be honest, I really didn’t know how I was going to do it all. I was fortunate enough that my husband, Ali, was able to take a paternal leave and not even kidding – he makes this parenting thing look easy! Noah and I are so lucky to have him in our lives. We use an app called Baby Daybook to help us keep track of Noah’s feedings, diaper changes, pumping and more. It works wonders for us because when I come home, I know exactly how Noah’s day went and can carry on from there. It’s also great for mommy brain (can confirm it’s a real thing). During the first few months, I always made sure to plan a fun family activity on my days off like going on a hike or pumpkin patch. We were even able to fit in a little family trip to Europe which is something I didn’t think would be possible, but we made it happen! As you can see from the photo, Noah loves being outside and he always has the best sleep after one of our adventures! I especially love this one because you get to see his chubby cheeks that everyone loves so much!

Keeping things real, the journey of pregnancy and motherhood is so beautiful and precious, but it’s definitely not easy. There were many days when I had to push myself to prioritize some self-care and other days when I simply couldn’t. From pregnancy fatigue to becoming a Mom for the first time, there are so many new things to learn, but I’m also learning how important it is to do something nice for myself. Naturally, this often means something related to skincare and makeup! I’ve adjusted my routines to be quick and easy, while still making me feel my best. I start both my morning and nighttime routine with the llumineé Eye Serum, then I use the Poetry in Potion Serum, Daydream Rosewater Cream and Supermodel Lip Bath. These products make me feel better instantly! As someone with very dry skin, the hydration I get with these products is amazing and helps me to prep my skin in only a couple of minutes. Some other products I like to have around the house and in my purse are scrunchies, brow mascara, blush and coquette lipslicks. For a little glow, I recently tried the NUDA Self-Tanning Water and it’s a total game-changer! I’ve been including it as part of my bedtime routine so I can wake up feeling sun-kissed and confident in my own skin. Plus, no one will ever know how little sleep I got…told you it’s a game-changer for busy Mamas!

Being a working mom is no easy feat, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I feel incredibly lucky to be in a position where I can balance both motherhood and my career, two worlds that I love so much! Motherhood has taught me to be more efficient, and my work has allowed me to stay true to who I am. It’s a beautiful journey and I can’t wait to see where it takes my family next. Here’s to all the moms out there juggling work and motherhood – let’s keep shining, beautiful ladies!
