The Best And Most Effective Way To Apply Your Bronzer, Blush And Highlighter

Britt FeatureProducts & Tips

Brittany takes you step by step through the best and most effective way to apply your bronzer, blush and highlighter.

Alright folks, it’s time to share my BBH Secret – that’s Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter. I’m going to give you the lowdown on the best and most effective way to apply your bronzer, blush and highlighter for the best results!

Bronzer

Let’s start with how and where to apply our very own bronzer blush combo, Ballerina Bronzer. In order to create a gorgeous, luminous look without any harsh lines, first up, start with your bronzer. Use a fluffy brush, but not one that is so big that it’s going to make the application messy. You want to be able to slightly contour with the brush, as well. Apply the bronzer in places where the sun would hit, so on the top of your forehead, down the nose, on the cheekbones, the jawline and your chin (you can also dust downwards under your chin near the top of your neck here a bit here to help reduce any double chin!). When you use the brush, apply the product in circular motions, not straight up and down your cheekbones. Start at the little middle centre point of your ear, move on a diagonal downwards and use a lifting action with your brush so you aren’t dragging your cheek down. From there, go ahead and apply bronzer along the sharp area of your jaw and chin. I love a little bit also dusted down my nose, but if you really want to contour you can dip in with a little brush and focus on the sides of the nose to really slim it out. Myself, I really love that sun kissed look on my nose but it’s absolutely a personal preference!

When it comes to your forehead, you can contour and bronze depending on what you need. If you have a larger forehead you want to focus dusting at the top near your hairline to shrink it down a little. If you want to bring your face more inward and slim it down, focus on the top sides of the forehead as well. I’m also a big fan of dusting a little bit of bronzer into the crease of my eye to really wake up my eyes without having to apply eyeshadow. Applying a touch underneath the eye also helps open it up a little. Love these little secrets!

Blush

Keep it simple! Don’t follow those crazy 80s blush makeup rules where you place the blush all the way up your cheekbones on an angle. Smile and feel the fleshy area of your cheek. That’s the apple of your cheek and that is where your blush should go! Don’t get too close to your nose, use circular motions and you can apply slightly above where you’ve just bronzed. I also love to put a little bit on the tip of the nose and temples just to warm up your face and make it all look cohesive and less obviously popped out blush on the cheeks.

Highlighter

We’re at the H of our BBH! Taking a look at our Dew-U Cream Highlight, go ahead and mix the shades a little onto your brush and dust them off on the corner of the palette so there isn’t fallout. I usually focus on the highest point of my cheekbone and, because I have drier skin, I also love to put a little bit above my brow for an extra pop. You can apply down the nose as well, if you want the application and look to be more precise, grab a more tapered brush. Use your fingers to gently place a little highlighter in the corner of your eyes for extra radiance and to look more awake and alert. Throw some on your cupid’s bow and under your brow bone for even more radiance. You can pretty much put highlighter anywhere, even the lid of your eye, though I prefer a bronzier look on my own lid. Totally up to you!

And there you have it! It’s simple, don’t overthink it. Focus on what makes you look the most healthy and gives that lovely glow in the best way for you and stick with it! Happy BBHing!
